Myoko Kogen

Mt Myoko at 2454 m is one of Honshu’s hidden treasures. Situated on the Niigata/Nagano boarder and only 45kms from the Japan sea. This place is another of Japans snow magnets boasting epic powder from Jan through March. Five different lift company’s give access to a huge range of riding conditions for beginner to advanced. Easily accessible back country featuring mushrooms, pillows, wind lips, shoots and big open faces, with very few locals, mean this is a free riders paradise. Freestyle riding is also big with 4 parks catering to all abilities. Akakura is a quaint mountain village nestled right in the middle of the action. Some night life and a number of restaurants, onsens and pensions, combined with its close proximity to Nagano city(1 hr drive) make Myoko kogen an awesome holiday destination.
